Comberbach WI - 60 years old and still going strong!

Life is never dull when you join Comberbach WI.
There are 60 of us and before you ask, we have no intention of stripping off for one of those calendars!
We meet on the first Monday of each month in Comberbach Village Hall at 7.30pm. We usually have a speaker at our meeting and then a lovely piece of homemade cake and a cup of tea. Come as a visitor and see if it's for you. A warm welcome will be extended to you.
Amongst our many activities are:
Ramble Group:
On the last Wednesday of each month we go for a gentle walk, usually ending at a pub for lunch. This is a good way to get to know our wonderful county of Cheshire and to make new friends .

Choir/ Drama Group:
We have an excellent choir under the leadership of Hilary Totten and take part in the WI Group Carol Service and sometimes entertain members at meetings. The Drama Group members are always on the look out for new talent. They perform for members occasionally and have not quite reached the West End - yet!
Art/Craft:
We have a very talented selection of ladies who enter and do well at The Cheshire Show each year. Members partake in a great variety of crafts from painting to machine embroidery but there are also people like me who just enjoy tapestry or knitting with no pretensions to prize-winning. I can't make a cake either!
Bowls:
We have a very enjoyable Bowls Day every year in May and take part in the Group Competition. My Bowls-playing is, unfortunately like my pancakes: just getting good when it's all finished!

Darts:
We have some good darts players and play in the Group Competition. I can only apologise for the holes I made in the wallpaper in the Spinner Pavilion!
At the recent WI Group Darts match played at Moulton Village Hall in March 2010 Comberbach 2 beat Comberbach 1 in the finals. Congratulations to both teams on reaching the finals this year and to Comberbach 2 for winning.

Quiz:
We enter a team each year in the Group Quiz although we have to make sure we don't get through to the final as we usually do the refreshments for that at Comberbach Village Hall! I like this activity as I can do it sitting down.
Trips:
Outings are organised, both for culture and shopping - sometimes both! These are always enjoyable social occasions.

Eating:
We seem to do quite a lot of this at our Annual Dinner (January), Birthday Party (April) and Tasty Evening (August).

We hope you will come and see what we do. Come as a visitor and then decide if you want to join. I look forward to seeing you at our next meeting.
